"TEJA" of SPA CANADA is a sanctuary for our animals located in Glen Robertson, Ontario. It was established in 1992 and is enclosed with 35 sprawling acres of land. There dogs and cats, ducks and geese, goats, sheep, horses, chickens and pigs live together in a happy rural environment. All these animals were rescued from industrial farms, puppy mills, slaughterhouses, and also, from irresponsible and uncaring individuals. During their stay, they will never suffer their once-lived daily nightmare of cruelty and of living in squalid inhuman conditions.
At "TEJA" a bright future awaits the animals and "it is not temporary". They will not be adopted nor sold at any time. They will have the opportunity to live in peace and harmony, surrounded by loving people who are seriously committed in tending daily to them and giving them affection.
This sanctuary is managed by groups of volunteers. Every first Sunday of the month, the SPA CANADA organizes a day of public volunteering. On this day, from noon to 4pm, each and everyone is invited to participate in the different tasks needed in tending daily to animals. They are asked to wear gloves, boots and warm clothing and they are encouraged "to get dirty". They must also provide their own water and lunch.
Everyone must reserve in advance when contacting us. We will also need to know if anyone has extra car seating available for the volunteers who may need transportation to and from the sanctuary. This event can also be a great family outing enjoyed by everyone.
